A challenging golf course and nice hotel
We went to Korineum Golf in North Cyprus with a group of 10 golfers for a weeks holiday in November 2012. After a long travel journey (the flight had to land at Instanbul before then travelling onto North Cyprus - so over 6 hours from Stansted!) we arrived at 10:30pm. The kitchen had closed and no food room service so not a good start.
After that though things settled and this is a nice - albeit it - remote golf resort! The Golf course is challenging with a few ravines and water coming into play. We had 5 rounds and only once did I hit to may handicap - and other days were between 28-31 points. It does get easier after a few plays.
The greens are very good and true - and quick. The bunker sound was poor when were there but maybe a "time of year" thing. So nothing but praise for the golf course. The Pro Shop is adequate - and expensive so no bargains there! and the after food, drink and views are very good and good value compared to the UK (£5 for a Club sandwich, £2 for a coffee etc.).
It has some good practice facilities as well, with a large driving range, putting and chipping areas. Tee times are only 8 minutes apart which is too close for a course like this, so expect a 5 hour round with some waiting on most tees from around the 5th tee.
They had a small spa which we used and it was good value - if not great treatments or an "experience". Adquate at best.
Most costs are not expensive and better to pay everywhere with turkish lira.
The room we had - in Block 5 - was very well furnished although the beds were a little bit harder than maybe we would like (but only a minor irritation). No view from our room (room 426) but the other side would have had a lovely view of the sea (and the 1st floor is better than ground floor).
The breakfast was adequate and had a good selection of cold and hot food. The saame room was used for the evening dinner which we had once - and was pretty poor to be honest, as was the ambience of the room. More like a canteen and so we were glad we ate out every night in the town (20 minutes drive away) or one night downstarirs in the "a la carte" restaurant (which was good in quality and price).
The people working there are very friendly and you do feel very comfortable and looked after.
There was an outside pool area that was good to laze around for an afternoon - if too cold to swim in when we were there.
The benefit to us for the week was definately the golf course onsite and the ability to relax around that. we played 5 rounds in a week.
If I was on holiday in the area - and maybe playing one or two rounds of golf - I would probably choose to stay Kirenya (20 mins away) and where all the harbour\port\good restaurants are and travel up to the golf resort each day.
Room Tip: As has been said, Block 5 (so rooms starting with a 5) and furthest away from the clubhouse are the...
